Attraction details

Gold Mines in Złoty Stok
Over a period of more than 700 years, some 16 tonnes of pure gold were mined at Zloty Stok! However, the mine has not been in operation since 1962, when mining and metallurgical activities in Zloty Stok were terminated for reasons that remain unexplained.

The period of abandonment of the mine lasted 35 years. Eventually, it was decided that some corridors were worth clearing and opening for tourism. In 1996 (after 5 years of work) the Underground Tourist Route "Gold Mine" was launched. So far, it has managed to make available: "Gertuda Adit", "Upper Black Adit" with the only underground waterfall in Poland (8 m high) and "Lower Black Adit" - the newest section, opened to the public since 2008. An additional attraction is an underground boat trip down a section of the flooded, dark and mysterious adit, as well as accompanying attractions: minting a commemorative coin, gold panning or making handmade gold paper with one's own hands, a demonstration of casting gold bars, archery or paintball shooting...
