Ruins of Karpień Castle
The ruins of the medieval castle are located at the top of Karpiak (758 m).in the Golden Mountains. The castle was also the capital of the former Karpian state.

The first known lord of the castle by name was Thamo Glubos the Elder, a 14th century fief of King John of Luxembourg. The family of the Meissen nobleman had a golden carp painted on a blue field in its coat of arms and hence the name Karpień.
Today we can see basically only foundations and stones. However, the site is worth a visit for educational reasons - the division of the site into an inner castle with a tower and courtyard, an outer defensive wall and a sub-garden is clearly visible.
