Dr Dabrowska's spring fasting - preparing for the diet

Spring is often a time when many people make changes in their lives. The days get longer, the sun gives us more energy to do things. This can prove to be the perfect time to start Dr Dabrowska's diet.

Do you know how to prepare for a fast? We will explain!

Preparing in advance allows for a smoother transition of the fruit and vegetable diet. However, it is important to remember that every body is different and we may react differently. I can see from experience that earlier preparation = smoother fasting.

How long should the preparation take? It depends on you, it is good for it to be a minimum of 3-4 days. The longer it takes, the smoother the transition to changing habits will be.

During preparation, we try to limit:

  • stimulants of all kinds (coffee, alcohol, smoking...)

  • sweets

  • fast food

  • meat

  • dairy products

  • products low in dietary fibre, e.g. white bread.

In addition to the products that you should, it is worth remembering those that are good to introduce into your diet. We increase the amount of raw vegetables gradually, which will allow our body to get used to more dietary fibre. More dietary fibre, so we also need to increase the amount of water throughout the day. Pickles are an important part of the diet, and it is worth introducing them gradually in preparation so that the digestive system does not react too violently. Applying these small changes should help the start of the diet go smoothly.

In spring, nature awakens to life. Vegetables and fruits (allowed on a diet) that occur seasonally during this period include:

  • apples

  • rhubarb

  • carrots

  • bell peppers

  • young cabbage

  • onions

  • iceberg lettuce

  • radish

  • parsley roots

  • endive

  • arugula

  • beet leaves.

Seasonal fruits are more nutrient-dense, meaning they have more vitamins and minerals, which simply makes them healthier. We encourage you to choose seasonal fruit and vegetables, we follow this ourselves in the Alhambra kitchen.

Sandra Brudnik - dietician of the Alhambra Hotel

I have been passionate about dietetics and cooking for many years and am constantly developing in this direction. I have completed a degree in clinical dietetics and have attended and continue to attend many training courses. Since 2020, I have been acting as a dietitian at the Alhambra Hotel and I work with the diets we prepare for you. A few years ago I was sceptical about Dr Dabrowski's diet, but I have found out first-hand what it does and I help our guests during Dr Dabrowski's Fasting.
