Dr. Dabrowski's fasting - what to do with it part 1
Everyone has probably heard of Dr Dabrowski's fasting. Some people praise it, others put it off, others avoid it, laugh, advise against it, talk about it and the rest are in disbelief and knock themselves on the head. Why such extreme emotions and moods? You can read about all these points of view on forums, social networks and watch in thematic webinars. Who is right? Is anyone even capable of grasping the truth? No.
Dr Dabrowska's controversial approach involves turning the whole world of dietetics as we know it upside down. She overturns the stereotypes, the popular approach to nutrition, the food pyramid, the well-known and respected diets of famous doctors. Why ? And because it is a POST , not an elimination, rotation, weight loss or cleansing diet.
The difference between fasting and dieting is quite simple. Fasting is a SHORT-TERM, restrictive non-supply of sufficient calories over a period of days or weeks. Its purpose is to trigger the cleansing processes of so-called internal nutrition. A diet, on the other hand, is a change in eating habits adapted temporarily to the individual's needs and state of health.
DABROWSKA FASTING IS A THERAPEUTIC FAST, NOT A WEIGHT LOSS DIET.
Before undertaking fasting, it is a good idea to examine ourselves. If you feel, intuitively, that something is not quite right with your health and the classical medicine cannot grasp the problem, you are talking about an idiopathic disease/condition. No-one knows themselves better than they know themselves, so it is worth doing some basic research to be safe and to be sure that your fasting will serve you as it should.
Dr Dabrowska's fasting, when carried out correctly, should last between one and six weeks.
During fasting, we observe the consumption of recommended vegetables, fruit, herbs, roots, spices and drinks. Vegetables and fruit should preferably be raw or pickled. The optimal number of calories consumed per day is 400-800 . It is very important to adapt the number of calories and the daily eating regime to one's own needs . Everyone has different routines and eating times. By not exceeding 800 calories we are on a full fast, but it is worthwhile to have mental comfort which will further enhance the changes carried out in the body.
On the subject of what you can eat on a fast, it is worth writing another post . Contrary to what you might think, the range of foods available is very varied.
Fasting is designed to cleanse the body of toxins, deposits and excess metabolism products lingering in the intestines, among other things. It perfectly regulates blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and insulin levels. It miraculously changes the perspective of how and what we eat. Thus, it has a beneficial effect not only on the body, but also on the psyche, and there is no exaggeration in this.
How does it works?
When we consume so few calories, our body is forced to ‘seek’ energy from what it has available. It activates internal, so-called endogenous nutrition, during which it digests and transforms into energy the by-products of metabolism, deposits, degenerations such as polyps, cysts, nodules, but also stabilises the intestinal microflora. This deep cleansing of the organism makes the liver filter more efficiently, regulates the endocrine system, the pancreas stabilises the glycaemia without interference, lowers cholesterol, improves concentration and memory.
During internal nutrition, the process of autophagocytosis (or autophagy) is triggered, for the discovery of which Yoshinori Ohsumi received the Nobel Prize in 2016.
